Magnetic susceptometer
Supervisor: Alessio Adamiano
The Sartorius YSZ02C magnetic susceptometer consists of a precision analytical balance coupled with a permanent magnet, whose distance from the sample holder can be modified to apply a different magnetic field intensity to the sample. The distances from the sample to which the magnet can be positioned are 18, 20, 27, 35, 43 mm, corresponding to 2700, 2000, 800, 360 and 200 A / m. By recording the weight variation of the magnetic sample as the field intensity varies, it is possible to calculate the sample’s magnetic volume susceptibility (χ).
